Rainbows and ribbon

Well it has been a while since I have posted.....again!  Sorry.  We have been busy.  With preschool, part time daycare, and me working more I am finding less time in our days!  We have been doing things but I haven't been 'documenting' most of it.  We have also been hit with a few colds this winter so that has kept us a little more lazy than usual.
We are back at it though!  I found a bunch of my old reading materials and speech materials from my 'before mommy' life.  I am looking forward to using them with Little Monkey and Little Princess.
Today I saw a ribbon rainbow on Pinterest and it looked like it would work for both Little Monkey and Little Princess.  They both loved it and wanted to keep going.  I really liked that I could make it a little more work for Little Monkey and not too hard for Little Princess.

Little Monkey had to connect the dots to make his rainbow.  He loves any type of connect the dots so this was so much fun for him.    He also decided today he was going to be left handed. He still switches between hands but lately he has been using his right hand more.  It turns out his left hand still works. :)  I pre attached the ribbons just to make it easier.

Now onto the lacing.  Little Monkey had no problem at all.  I should have maybe coloured the holes on the back side of the cardboard as well.  Oh well, next time. :)  Little Princess had some trouble, but the more we did it the better she got.  She would get all excited every time sit laced it through on the first try!  She would cheer 'Look Mommy, I did it so fast!"  I did hold the paper up for Little Princess to make it a little easier for her.

This is the back where I should have coloured the dots. :)
We had lots of fun making these rainbows!  It created lots of opportunity for us to talk about colours and find objects around the house that were the same colour.

Jack O'lanterns

Well I haven't posted in a while.  We have been busy.  Daddy was gone for 5 weeks to do some training for work and at the same time I started working 4 days a week.  We are still trying to find our groove.  We have done quite a few things but I keep forgetting to bring out my camera.  We have spent a few weekends at the pumpkin patch.  It is a favourite of ours.  On the theme of pumpkins we made some Jack O'lanterns today.  The kids had so much fun with it.  I found the face pieces at Target.  I am starting to get addicted to Target!  I see what all the fuss is about now! :)
The kids had lots of fun creating their own faces.  Little Princess was very excited when she figured out how to pull the back off the sticker.  Little Monkey was excited when I showed him where we could hang them to see both tides of their faces. As soon as I put the first one up, Little Princess came running over saying 'mine too mine too!'.
I should be back into the swing of things now.  I am hoping to post at least a few times a week now. :)

Fall leaves round 2

Well the sun has come out in full force so a lot of what I had planned has been put on the back burner.  We have been outside as much as possible lately.  On one of our walks the other day we brought some buckets to collect some leaves.  The kids had lots of fun finding the leaves they likes the most. Little Princess lost most of her bucket a few times, but it didn't seem to phase her.  She also came back with way more rocks than Little Monkey.  We have also seen a lot of slugs lately on our walks....yuck!  The kids seem to love them though.  (Sorry about the picture quality....my camera and I are fighting)

'Look Mom, a G!'

With all the leaves we collected I figured we could make fall trees.  They had lots of fun with this one.  Little Princess's favourite part was painting the glue on.  I think we might need to do more painting in the near future.  I also under estimated how big the leaves were.  I think they still turned out cute. :)

Today we picked a bunch of acorns so now I have to go think of something to do with them. :)

Vrooomm with letters!

Today's letter game came from Pinterest.  I had seen in a while ago and I finally got around to making it up last night.  I found it here.  It is pretty east and straight forward.
Little Monkey was very excited about adding the wheels to the car....until he realized that the car wouldn't actually drive anywhere.  We powered through and he did pretty good.  I have a better idea of what letters he still needs to work on (thankfully not as many as I thought).  I think we will be sticking to letter games for a little bit as Little Princess is very interested in letters as well.

It feels like Fall

Wow summer came and went so fast!  We had so much fun this summer.  There were lots of beach days, family visiting, playing at the park, and bike rides. It was a full summer and I feel like it was over way too soon.  Little Monkey and Little Princess both have birthdays in the summer so I usually feel like we just finish one and the other is upon us! We tried to get out to the beach as much as we could.  Now that the kids are a little older I find it so much easier to head to the beach.  They are pretty good about sticking close enough for me to see them and if they wonder off all it usually takes is a quick name call and they come slowly back.
It has been raining for a few days now and I fear summer is really over.  Now that we have gone from being out of the house most days to being stuck inside I have been getting back into idea mode!  Little Monkey goes back to preschool in the middle of September and Little Princess will be taking some activity as well.  I need to get organized so when it all hits I will be prepared.  I am waiting for all the orchard apples to appear in the stores.  They are our favourite.  They are so flavourful!  We will be doing some apple things as well as back to school things!
Here is a little snippet of our summer. :)

Monsters

Sorry it has been a long time since I have posted!  We have been busy.  Summer has hit and we are spending the majority of time outside enjoying it.  I am finding going to the beach or lake a few times a week makes the kids sleep so well! :)
Little Monkey turned 4 this weekend!  He was so very excited to have his birthday party with all his friends!  Everyone called him on his actual birthday but he kept telling them 'you know it's not my party today'.  When today finally came he was beside himself.  We decided to go for a monster theme this year.  He wasn't too sure about the theme (which he picked) until we got our amazing printables from Eight Hearts Design.  He was so very excited about them all.
It was a fun afternoon filled with lots of friends and family.  Of course there were a few games as well. We did a 'Pin the Eye on the Monster' and a 'Monster Toss'.  The Monster toss was the most played with game.  The monster cake was also a very exciting part of the party!  All in all it was a great way to celebrate being 4!
Little Princess' birthday is up next month and minnie will be making an appearance. :)
This was in the kids goodie bags.  A monster face crayon, build your own monster, and a monster ball.
