March

Well Little Monkey and Little Princess are keeping us on our toes and keeping me off of here!  Little Monkey came down with an ear infection last week and Little Princess may have whooping cough this week!  We are ready to rid the house of sickness (and get some sleep).  In the middle of all this sickness we got our new carpet put in!  It looks great!  Now we just need everyone feeling better so we can get all our stuff moved back up!
Since I haven't posted or created in a while I thought I would give a little pre-view to what I am planning for us to do in March.
There will be veggie stamping, handprint clovers, rainbows, shamrocks, and cookies galore!  I am also working on a green tutu for Little Princess.  I will try and get some templates created this weekend so they are ready as March begins.
March is going to be full of green, St. Patricks Day, Leprechauns, and so much fun!
I am also starting to plan out April and Easter fun.
So many ideas, so little time. :)

Scavenger Hunt

Little Monkey LOVES to be outside.  He loves it so much he will start asking at 6 am when he wakes up!  We try and get out a little bit each day (don't worry we all have really good rain gear).  I love watching him explore.  We spend lots of time on walks and I was trying to think of something to encourage us to talk more about what we see.  Then it hit me!  Why not make a scavenger hunt for him to find stuff we see all the time.  He loves it!
I printed it off and laminated it so when if it starts to rain we are fine.  I also bring a dry erase marker with us so we can check off things as we find them.  I have also turned it into a counting game.  We put a check mark every time we see one and when we get home we count them all up to see how many we saw.  This has become a great conversation starter.  We talk about size and colour.  Every time we find the fire hydrant Little Monkey must tell me 'that is where dogs poop mommy'.  Well at least he is paying attention!
Here is a link to download the Scavenger Hunt.
I hope you enjoy it.
It is raining today so I am off to make an indoor scavenger hunt for Little Monkey!

Getting Started

Hello!
I have been debating starting a blog for quite some time.  I think I am finally ready for the challenge.  A little background information:
I am a stay at home mommy to two amazing little ones and married to the man of my dreams.  Our Little Monkey is 2.5 and a very busy little boy.  Our Little Princess is 6 months old and learning something new everyday.  We live on Vancouver Island and it tends to rain every-so-often :)
I have always had a passion for working with children and before we moved I had the privilege of working with children with Down Syndrome at a place called PREP.  I did a variety of jobs while I worked there and learned so much.  I had the opportunity to work in the preschool while I was there and fell in love.  I love creating and watching children learn.
Now that Little Monkey is getting older and busier, I am constantly thinking of fun new exciting things for us to do.  Little Princess won't be far behind.  We love to be outside but when it is raining...ok storming...we can't always make it outside.  We tend to get a little bit of cabin fever, and believe me, that is no fun for anyone!  I am always trying to come up with new fun and exciting things for us to do while we are stuck inside.
I have had quite a few requests to share some of the things I do/make.  I thought this would be a great way to do it.  I am hoping to post at least a few times a week to start off, with the hopes to start posting daily.
I hope you enjoy my Rainy Day Distractions!
